Long running feuds to be settled, Bert-style

This week Channel Nine will air the first ever episode of Family Feud featuring a Muslim family. Simply known as the “Muslims”, producers at the network say they were impressed with the angle the Muslims provided to the ailing show, so much so that they are planning to create a new version tentatively titled Muzzie Family Feud.
“We found that a lot of the answers they gave related to marriage. So if the question related to picnics, the answers would be things like, couples, married couples, engagement barbecue and so on. It was kind of unusual at first, and Bert [Newton] was a bit confused. But soon enough Bert was cracking jokes about arranged marriages and all was well.”
The network won’t reveal whether the Muslim family were successful in the competition. “You’ll just have to tune in and watch it,” said a source from Channel Nine. “And it’s worth it, because it’s our funniest episode ever. It really didn’t get better than the mother taking off her shoe and threatening to slap Bert for talking back.”
The premise for the new show is to pit mainly Arab families against each other in an effort to see how they deal with competition. “We will have St John’s Ambulance on standby during filming,” said a producer for the current Family Feud.
He also said there’s a great deal of potential for the show and already major companies are showing interest in buying advertising slots. “We’ve received an overwhelming response from some major clothing brands such as Puma, Adidas and Nike. Some mechanics would also like to buy some air time to reach the younger demographic who drive around in hotted up cars.
“An added benefit to the idea of having Muslims is that they have big families. Just think of the variety of contestants. We can also have Muslim sects up against each other. It’s very exciting.”
